As the founder of DOORA Properties, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to create one of the most unique indie brokerage models on the West Coast. In my role as Director of Growth for eXp Realty, I’m always on the lookout for chances to grow the brand and use the agility of eXp’s cloud-based model to ensure the best outcomes for our partners, agents and clients.
Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply involved in launching and growing both indie and franchise brokerages. Along the way, I’ve sold thousands of residential properties under my own license, headed up the Engel & Völkers launch in Santa Monica, then founded my first independent brokerage, The Address, which grew from a single small office in the Channel Islands harbor to encompass five offices throughout Southern California.
My passion has always been about helping agents build their careers by providing not only professional guidance but also the training and operational support they need. Over the years, I’ve served as a managing broker for more than 100 agents, always striving to boost their performance and redefine what real estate services mean in markets throughout the region.
At DOORA, we’ve zeroed in on the entire home buying, ownership, and selling process, creating a 360° solution that offers seamless, integrated services for real estate clients at every stage of the transaction. At the same time, we’re providing innovative solutions for real estate agents and teams, including lead-generation, marketing, and support services with a value-added approach that consistently delivers results and fosters lasting professional relationships.
My expertise extends to serving as an expert witness, where I’m in demand to provide transactional analysis and high-level evaluation for REO and distressed properties. I’ve also been at the forefront of the iBuyer movement, serving in roles as both an acquisition manager and disposition manager for strategic investment portfolios.
I’m also proud to have designed patented improvements to residential signage and secured trademarks in multiple categories for my brand design. During my time as the managing broker at The Address, I collaborated with the leadership of nine major brokerages in the Orange County area, sharing anonymized buyer data to access advanced market analytics through the RealScout Orange County buyer graph. This data was invaluable in helping area brokerages better advise selling clients on pricing and how to best position their homes for sale across a range of price points.
I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I love to share my knowledge with others. I am a frequent contributor to industry-leading publications like Inman and HousingWire, where I share my thoughts on leadership, culture, and the latest industry shifts. I’m currently hard at work on a follow-up to my 2019 book, Independent: Why the old-school brokerage model is broken — and how you can disrupt it. In it, I share more of my own personal story and offer insights into new directions in brokerage platforms.
In addition to my writing, I’ve spoken from many of the industry’s biggest stages, including Inman Connect, Gathering of Eagles, and the California Association of Realtors’ REImagine Conference. In fact, my work with eXp started on stage at Inman Connect Las Vegas, where a panel discussion on recruitment turned into a life-changing professional connection.
While I work hard, I play hard as well. My passion in life is spending time with my incredible wife, Carrie, and my young son, Rhett. Impromptu trips to Disneyland, weekend getaways to the lake, and early morning strolls along the beach outside our home offer opportunities to connect, communicate, and grow together as a family.
